BOX OFFICE: ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ Soars to $187M Globally, Biggest-Ever Overseas Horror Debut

New Line and Warner Bros’ ‘The Conjuring: Last Rites’ dominated the global box office this weekend, summoning an impressive $187 million worldwide debut, including $104 million from 66 international markets.

Directed by Michael Chaves, the latest entry in the hit horror franchise now claims the title of biggest international horror opening of all time, surpassing ‘It Chapter Two,’ another Warner Bros release. Globally, it ranks as the second-largest horror debut ever.

Warner Bros continues to lead all studios in 2025 with $3.778 billion worldwide, including $2.04 billion internationally and $1.738 billion domestically.

The Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga-led film scored the largest Conjuring Universe debut in 41 markets, among them Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, the UK, and the entirety of Latin America.

It also delivered the biggest horror opening ever in 17 countries, including Spain, Poland, Norway, Brazil, Colombia, and Chile. In India, the film set a new record as Warner Bros’ biggest opening weekend of all time.

In IMAX, ‘Last Rites’ added $14.3M globally, with $4.9M from overseas screens, marking the franchise’s largest-ever opening on the premium format. The overall debut now ranks as the second-highest horror opening weekend in history, trailing only ‘Alien: Romulus.’

The film still has 10 markets to open, including France and the Middle East next weekend. Japan will follow on October 17.
