Hulu has officially renewed ‘Furious’ for a second season, extending the crime thriller starring Emmy Rossum and Lola Petticrew ahead of its Season 1 finale.

The series, created by Elizabeth Meriwether, debuted with three episodes on July 27 and has steadily built an audience throughout its first season. Hulu says viewership has increased week over week, with Episode 7 recording 40% more first-day views than the premiere. During its launch week, ‘Furious’ also generated 372 million minutes watched in the U.S., placing No. 10 on Nielsen’s ranking of streaming original series.

‘Furious’ follows Alice Black (Rossum), an FBI agent pursuing Catherine Grace (Petticrew), a mysterious and calculating female serial killer. As Alice closes in on Catherine, the two women’s respective ideas of justice begin to overlap, increasingly blurring the line between right and wrong.

The series has also earned strong critical reception. It debuted with a 100% Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes and currently holds a 98% critics score.

Alongside Rossum and Petticrew, the first season stars Quincy Tyler Bernstine and Scoot McNairy, with Jake Lacy, Rob Delaney, Hope Davis, Rob Yang and Steve Way appearing in guest roles.

Meriwether serves as creator, writer and executive producer. Rossum also executive produces through Composition 8 alongside Ronald Bass, Matt Olmstead and Sam Hoffman, while Brian Kirk executive produced and directed the opening two episodes. The series is produced by 20th Television and Searchlight Television.

The eight-episode first season concludes Monday, August 31. ‘Furious’ streams on Hulu in the U.S. and Disney+ internationally. Details regarding Season 2’s storyline, production schedule and release date have not yet been announced.
