Peacock’s 'Friday the 13th' prequel series, 'Crystal Lake', has made an impressive debut, generating 1.3 billion minutes of viewing time in its first 11 days and becoming the streaming platform’s fourth-most-watched scripted original series to date.
Premiering on October 15, the eight-episode horror series has quickly established itself as a major success for Peacock. With a total runtime of 398 minutes, its viewing figures translate to approximately 3.3 million estimated complete-series views. The show now ranks behind only 'The Best Man: The Final Chapters' (2022), 'All Her Fault' (2025) and the first season of 'The Five Star Weekend' (2026) among Peacock’s scripted originals.
According to Nielsen, 'Crystal Lake' also secured the No. 3 position among streaming original series and first-season shows across television during the week of October 19, further highlighting its strong performance.
Beyond its streaming numbers, the series has generated considerable attention online. In its first 24 hours, 'Crystal Lake' accumulated an estimated 1.8 billion social media impressions, while videos associated with the show surpassed 7.6 million views within its first 11 days.
Produced by A24 and developed by Brad Caleb Kane, the series revisits the infamous 'Friday the 13th' universe through the perspective of Pamela Voorhees, portrayed by Linda Cardellini. Set before the events of the original 1980 film, the story explores Pamela’s grief following the apparent drowning of her son Jason and the disturbing events that unfold in the community surrounding Crystal Lake.
The series also stars Callum Vinson, William Catlett, Devin Kessler, Cameron Scoggins and Gwendolyn Sundstrom.
With its substantial debut audience and widespread online engagement, 'Crystal Lake' demonstrates the continuing popularity of established horror franchises. Although Peacock has yet to officially announce a second season, the show's early performance provides an encouraging foundation for its potential future.
