Kirsten Dunst is officially joining the cast of ‘The Housemaid’s Secret,’ the upcoming sequel to Lionsgate’s late-2025 box office success ‘The Housemaid.’

Dunst will star alongside Sydney Sweeney in the follow-up, which comes after the first film’s impressive global haul of nearly $400 million.

Dunst was most recently seen in Paramount’s dramedy ‘The Roofman.’ She is also set to appear in the sequel to ‘A Minecraft Movie’ and in Ruben Östlund’s upcoming film ‘The Entertainment System Is Down.’

The sequel adapts Freida McFadden’s second novel in ‘The Housemaid’ series. The story continues to follow Millie Calloway as she begins working for a new wealthy couple, taking on housekeeping duties in their upscale city penthouse. However, things quickly take a suspicious turn when Millie is prevented from seeing Mrs. Garrick, leading her to question the husband and uncover a web of secrets.

Paul Feig returns to direct, with Rebecca Sonnenshine once again handling the screenplay. Sydney Sweeney reprises her role, and Michele Morrone is also back as Enzo.

Feig will produce alongside Laura Fischer, as well as Todd Lieberman of Hidden Pictures and Sweeney under her Fifty-Fifty Films banner. Carly Elter and Alex Young will serve as executive producers for Hidden Pictures, while Kaylee McGregor will co-produce for Fifty-Fifty Films.

At Lionsgate, Chelsea Kujawa and Maria Ascanio are overseeing the project.

Erin Westerman, president of Lionsgate Motion Picture Group, praised the casting, saying it’s an honor to bring the next chapter to life with Kirsten Dunst, calling her an icon known for her range and bold career choices. She added that Dunst and Sweeney together will create a compelling dynamic in a story full of twists and hidden truths.
