Sam Rockwell and Woody Harrelson are set to lead the upcoming crime thriller ‘The Cackling of the Dodos,’ which will be directed by Jason Bateman for Netflix.

The film was officially revealed by Netflix’s head of film, Dan Lin, during the company’s presentation showcasing its upcoming movie and TV lineup for the year.

Written by novelist Rye Curtis, the story follows George, a farmer in a small town whose day takes a disastrous turn when he finds a dead body inside a grain bin. Things quickly spiral as his employer, Denny, pulls him into a messy and chaotic attempt to cover it up.

Bateman will also produce the project through his Aggregate Films banner, alongside his producing partner Michael Costigan.

This marks another collaboration between Bateman and Netflix. He previously starred in the hit crime series ‘Ozark,’ which earned 45 Emmy nominations across four seasons. He also appeared as a villain in the thriller ‘Carry-On,’ which spent eight weeks in Netflix’s Global Top 10, and starred in and executive produced the limited series ‘Black Rabbit,’ earning a SAG/AFTRA Actor Award nomination.

Rockwell is currently appearing in the sci-fi comedy ‘Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die,’ directed by Gore Verbinski, and also featured in HBO’s acclaimed series ‘The White Lotus.’

Meanwhile, Harrelson has recently appeared in ‘Ella McCay,’ a comedy from James L. Brooks, and reprised his role as a cunning magician in ‘Now You See Me: Now You Don’t.’
