Nearly ten years after launching his acting career alongside his father, Bill Pullman, in the western ‘The Ballad of Lefty Brown,’ Lewis Pullman has built an impressive resume. His credits include high-profile films like ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ ‘Bad Times at the El Royale,’ and Marvel Studios' recent outing ‘The Thunderbolts,’ as well as an Emmy-nominated performance in ‘Lessons in Chemistry.’
Now, Lewis Pullman is preparing to share the screen with his father once again. He is currently in talks to star in the sequel to ‘Spaceballs,’ the cult-classic sci-fi spoof.
Bill Pullman played Lone Starr — a Han Solo-inspired character — in the original 1987 Mel Brooks film, which affectionately parodied ‘Star Wars,’ ‘Star Trek,’ ‘2001: A Space Odyssey,’ and other sci-fi staples.
The sequel is being developed by Amazon MGM Studios, which is aiming for a theatrical release in 2027. While the studio hasn’t officially commented on Pullman’s involvement, sources confirm the casting discussions.
Josh Greenbaum is set to direct from a script penned by Benji Samit, Dan Hernandez, and Josh Gad. Gad will also star in the film alongside Keke Palmer. Mel Brooks will reprise his role as Yogurt, the film’s Yoda-like character.
Original cast members Rick Moranis and Daphne Zuniga are also expected to return. According to sources cited by The Hollywood Reporter, Lewis Pullman will play a new character named Starburst, the son of Queen Vespa (Zuniga) and Lone Starr (Bill Pullman). Palmer’s character, Destiny, will join Starburst and Gad’s character as the film’s central trio.
Amazon MGM Studios hilariously describes the sequel as, “A Non-Prequel Non-Reboot Sequel Part Two but with Reboot Elements Franchise Expansion Film.”
