It’s no surprise that the final season of ‘Squid Game’ drew massive global attention — it is, after all, Netflix’s biggest show ever — but the numbers behind the Korean phenomenon continue to astound.

The third and final season garnered 60.1 million views worldwide from June 27 to June 29, marking the largest three-day launch in Netflix’s internal rankings. While season two, which debuted on December 26, 2024, earned a slightly higher 68 million views, it did so over four days. Both seasons are the only ones — across both English and non-English language categories — to break into Netflix’s all-time top 10 within their first week.

According to Netflix, the 60.1 million views for season three translate to 368.4 million hours watched. At just over six hours long, it’s the shortest of the three seasons, giving it an edge in view count efficiency (total hours watched divided by runtime) compared to its predecessors.

During the week of June 23–29, ‘Squid Game’ dominated Netflix’s global charts, ranking No. 1 in every country the platform tracks — a first for any Netflix title. The final chapter follows Player 456/Seong Gi-hun (played by Lee Jung-jae) as he attempts to dismantle the deadly competition from the inside. The season’s closing moments suggest the sinister games could have an even broader, global reach.

Meanwhile, another Korean-inspired title, ‘KPop Demon Hunters,’ had a standout week of its own. The animated film rose to the top of Netflix’s English-language movie chart in its second week, with 24.2 million views — the equivalent of that many full plays.

The first season of ‘Squid Game’ remains Netflix’s most-watched series of all time, with 265.2 million views in its first 13 weeks — the window Netflix uses for its all-time rankings. Season two currently holds second place among non-English series with 192.6 million views, while the third season ranks ninth — with strong potential to climb into the top five soon.
