Charli XCX is adding another major Hollywood project to her growing film career, with the British pop star reportedly set to appear in Martin Scorsese’s upcoming feature, 'What Happens at Night'. The singer has filmed a cameo in the Gothic psychological horror film, which stars Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence. Details surrounding her character remain under wraps.

Produced by Apple and StudioCanal, the film follows an American married couple who travel to a remote European town to adopt a baby. However, their journey takes an increasingly unsettling turn as complications surrounding the adoption begin to challenge their understanding of themselves and their relationship. The ensemble also features Mads Mikkelsen, Patricia Clarkson and Jared Harris.

The casting marks another step in Charli’s expanding acting career, having appeared in seven films over the past two years. Among her recent projects is 'The Moment', a satirical mockumentary directed by longtime collaborator Aidan Zamiri that explores the cultural phenomenon surrounding her hugely successful 'Brat' era. Her connection with Scorsese also extends beyond the screen, with the filmmaker appearing alongside John Cale and Marc Jacobs on the cover of her latest album, 'Music, Fashion, Film', representing cinema, music and fashion respectively. The singer is currently concluding the American leg of her tour, with European dates scheduled to begin in February.

For Scorsese, 'What Happens at Night' will be his first feature since 2023’s 'Killers of the Flower Moon', which also starred DiCaprio and earned 10 Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture. While anticipation continues to build around the filmmaker’s latest project, an official release date has yet to be announced.
