Vin Diesel has assured fans that Paul Walker’s beloved character, Brian O’Conner, will return for the final installment of the “Fast and Furious” franchise. Speaking at Fuel Fest, a car festival organized by Walker’s brother Cody Walker, Diesel confirmed that the eleventh film will feature a reunion between his character, Dominic Toretto, and O’Conner.
Paul Walker tragically passed away in a car crash in 2013 before finishing work on the seventh movie in the series. To complete his scenes, his brothers Cody and Caleb stepped in as body doubles, while CGI and visual effects were used to recreate his likeness. Brian O’Conner’s story concluded in ‘Furious 7’ with an emotional farewell, as the character drove off to begin a quiet life with his family—including Mia Toretto, portrayed by Jordana Brewster, who plays Diesel’s character’s sister in the series.
“Just yesterday I was with Universal Studios — the studio said to me, ‘Vin, can we please have the finale of ‘Fast and Furious’ [in] April 2027?’ I said, ‘Under three conditions because I’ve been listening to my fan base,’” Diesel said. “The first is to bring the franchise back to L.A. The second thing was to return to the car culture, to the street racing. — The third thing was reuniting Dom and Brian O’Conner. That is what you’re going to get in the finale.”
