Disney’s live-action ‘Lilo & Stitch’ continues to dominate the domestic box office, outperforming the new release ‘From the World of John Wick: Ballerina’ — or simply known as ‘Ballerina.’

In its third weekend, ‘Lilo & Stitch’ is expected to earn another $33 million or more across 4,185 theaters. The film crossed the $300 million mark on Thursday and is projected to reach approximately $336 million domestically by Sunday, with a global total surpassing $650 million. The Disney live-action remake is on a blistering run to the $1 billion mark at the global box office.

Meanwhile, ‘Ballerina’ —the first spinoff from the ‘John Wick’ universe — will likely take second place with a softer debut of $25 million to $27 million from 3,409 locations. The R-rated action film stars Ana de Armas in the lead role, with Keanu Reeves making a notable appearance.

Initial projections had ‘Ballerina’ opening at $35 million or more, but expectations dropped to just over $30 million leading into the weekend. The film opened Friday with an estimated $10.8 million (including $3.75 million in Thursday previews), though it's expected to fall to second place by Saturday — a franchise low for opening day.

Despite the underwhelming start, the film received strong feedback from audiences, earning an A- CinemaScore, a 94% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and positive PostTrak scores, suggesting it could enjoy steady word-of-mouth success in the coming weeks.

Set during the timeline of ‘John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum,’ the film follows Eve Macarro (de Armas) as she begins her assassin training with the Ruska Roma. The cast includes Anjelica Huston, Gabriel Byrne, Lance Reddick, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Norman Reedus, and appearances from Ian McShane and Reeves. ‘Ballerina’ is directed by Len Wiseman and written by Shay Hatten, based on characters created by Derek Kolstad.

Other films like Tom Cruise’s final outing as Ethan Hunt (‘Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning)’ is projected to place third, bringing in about $15 million from 3,456 locations, pushing its domestic total to $145.9 million and global earnings beyond $400 million.

Sony’s ‘Karate Kid: Legends’ continues to struggle, falling over 57% in its second weekend. It's expected to earn $8.7 million from 3,859 theaters, bringing its domestic total to a modest $35.4 million by Sunday.

Rounding out the top five is ‘Final Destination: Bloodlines,’ now in its fourth weekend. Also expanding this week is Wes Anderson’s ‘The Phoenician Scheme,’ which moves into 1,678 theaters nationwide. Backed by Focus Features and Indian Paintbrush, the specialty release is on track for a $5.7 million weekend and a 10-day domestic total of $6.5 million. Last weekend, it launched in six theaters with a strong per-location average of $95,000 — the highest of the year so far.
