Harrison Ford has earned his first-ever Emmy nomination, just days after turning 83.
The legendary ‘Star Wars’ actor was recognized in the category of Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his performance in Season 2 of Apple TV+’s ‘Shrinking.’
Ford will be competing against a strong lineup that includes Ike Barinholtz, Colman Domingo, Jeff Hiller, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Michael Urie, and Bowen Yang.
While Ford was expected to receive a nomination last year for the show’s debut season, he missed out. That year, ‘The Bear’’s Ebon Moss-Bachrach took the award, with nominations also going to Lionel Boyce, Paul W. Downs (‘Hacks’), Paul Rudd (‘Only Murders in the Building’), Tyler James Williams (‘Abbott Elementary,’ and ‘SNL’’s Bowen Yang.
In its first season, ‘Shrinking’ earned nominations for Jason Segel (Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series) and Jessica Williams (Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series). Ford himself picked up a Golden Globe nomination for Best Supporting Actor – Series, Miniseries or Television Film, as well as a Screen Actors Guild nod for Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Comedy Series, though he didn’t win either.
In ‘Shrinking,’ Ford plays Paul Rhoades, a seasoned and respected therapist who mentors Jason Segel’s character, Jimmy. Gruff and occasionally arrogant, Paul is often compared to Batman, but underneath his tough exterior, he deeply cares for his patients and loved ones.
