As work gears up for ‘The Batman Part II’ to begin filming next year, DC Studios co-chief James Gunn is once again addressing waves of online fan theories.

On Friday, Gunn used social media to shut down a circulating rumor that Robin — specifically Dick Grayson, the Dark Knight’s well-known ward — would be making his first appearance in director Matt Reeves’ highly anticipated sequel.

“Guys please stop believing this nonsense. I think six of us have read the script. No one knows anything about The Batman 2,” wrote Gunn on Threads.

Gunn’s ‘Superman,’ which hit theaters last month, kicked off the new DC Universe under the “Gods and Monsters” banner. That storyline exists separately from Reeves’ Batman Epic Crime Saga, which currently consists of 2022’s ‘The Batman’ and the HBO Max spin-off series ‘The Penguin,’ released last year.

Gunn has previously spoken out in defense of the sequel’s delayed timeline. ‘The Batman Part II’ is now scheduled for an October 1, 2027 release — a year later than originally planned. In June, Reeves and co-writer Mattson Tomlin confirmed that they had completed the script for the upcoming film.
