Director Destin Daniel Cretton confirmed the news on Friday with an Instagram post celebrating the experience and the people involved, calling it “the biggest, most rewarding film I’ve ever been a part of.” The filmmaker used the post to thank the cast and crew who supported him throughout the shoot.
Cretton thanked Tom Holland directly, saying: “to [Tom Holland], for your kind, generous leadership on and off screen, for your relentless work ethic, your fearless performances, and for your friendship. That’s a wrap on Spider-Man: Brand New Day!”
The new installment will see Holland joined by several familiar and new faces. Mark Ruffalo returns to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Bruce Banner/The Hulk, while Michael Mando reprises his role as Scorpion from ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming.’ Jon Bernthal appears as the Punisher, and ‘Stranger Things’ star Sadie Sink joins the film in a role that remains under wraps. Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are also set to return as MJ and Ned.
Throughout production, Holland offered occasional glimpses into the project. In early August, Sony unveiled his updated Spider-Man suit, and the actor later shared behind-the-scenes photos from the set on social media.
Cretton directs the film from a script written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, who also penned previous Spider-Man entries.
‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is set to arrive in theaters on July 31, 2026.
