A buzzy new package is expected to hit the market this week, and it already has the makings of a high-profile studio chase.
Filmmaker and screenwriter Lindsey Anderson Beer has sold her debut novel, ‘Hollow,’ to Putnam, an imprint of Penguin Random House, and is now developing the book as a feature film with Sydney Sweeney attached to star.
Beer is set to direct the film and adapt the screenplay. LuckyChap will produce alongside Beer through her Lab Brew banner, with Sweeney also producing through her newly announced Honey Trap banner. The project marks the first official film production for Honey Trap following news of the company’s launch.
‘Hollow’ is described as a bold reimagining of ‘The Legend of Sleepy Hollow,’ told from the perspective of Katrina Van Tassel. Rather than positioning Van Tassel as a romantic prize, the novel reframes her as the central figure in a dangerous mystery and a seductive supernatural love triangle. The story blends gothic atmosphere, psychological suspense, and erotic thriller elements into a contemporary, high-concept reinvention of the classic tale.
Sweeney is attached to play Van Tassel in the feature adaptation. The novel is being fast-tracked for publication, with a planned release in fall 2027 to align with development of the film.
The book quickly landed on studio book scout lists, and the film adaptation has already sparked strong interest ahead of reads. The material is said to closely match the creative mandates and visions of Sweeney, Honey Trap, LuckyChap, and Beer, leading all parties to commit quickly.
