Production on ‘Tomb Raider,’ the upcoming series from Phoebe Waller-Bridge, has been temporarily suspended by Amazon MGM Studios.
In a statement to Deadline, the studio explained that Sophie Turner recently sustained a minor injury. As a precaution, filming has been paused briefly to give her time to recover, with production expected to resume soon.
It has not been confirmed whether Turner’s injury occurred on set. Sources indicate the hiatus is likely to last around two weeks, and crew members will continue to be paid during the abrupt pause.
The series, produced for Prime Video in collaboration with Crystal Dynamics, officially began production on January 15.
‘Tomb Raider’ adapts the well-known video game franchise centered on archaeologist-adventurer Lara Croft. Alongside Turner, the cast includes Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, Martin Bobb-Semple, Jack Bannon, John Heffernan, Bill Paterson, Paterson Joseph, Sasha Luss, Juliette Motamed, Celia Imrie, and August Wittgenstein.
Waller-Bridge serves as creator, writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner, sharing showrunning duties with Chad Hodge. Jonathan Van Tulleken directs and executive produces. Additional executive producers include Waller-Bridge and Jenny Robins (Wells Street Films), Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson (Story Kitchen), as well as Michael Scheel and Legendary Television. Matt McInnis is co-executive producer, with Jan R. Martin producing.
