David Jonsson and Cooper Hoffman join forces once again after co-starring in Lionsgate’s Stephen King adaptation ‘The Long Walk,’ for new A24 drama ‘The Chaperones.’

The film is being produced by Plan B alongside Icki Eneo Arlo’s banner, which is fronted by Robert Pattinson. Shooting is scheduled to start later this fall, with Ohio and New Mexico set as primary locations.

The project has drawn attention within the indie film community thanks to director India Donaldson, whose debut feature ‘Good One’ premiered at Cannes and Sundance. That film earned her an Indie Spirit Award nomination for Best First Screenplay as well as the National Board of Review prize for Best Directorial Debut.

Written by Sebastian Black, the story follows a drug dealer and two slacker friends hired to escort a troubled teenager across the country. Hoffman plays one of the “chaperones,” a brash and reckless young man, while Jonsson portrays his partner, who is more reluctant about the job. Adam Wyatt Tate serves as executive producer.

Jonsson, a BAFTA Rising Star winner, is known for his roles in the BBC series ‘Industry’ and the indie romance ‘Rye Lane.’ He recently gained attention in Hollywood with a standout performance in ‘Alien: Romulus.’

Hoffman, son of the late Philip Seymour Hoffman, made his debut in Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘Licorice Pizza’ and appeared in Jason Reitman’s ‘Saturday Night.’ Most recently, he was seen in ‘Poetic License,’ Maude Apatow’s directorial debut, which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival.

Audiences can currently see both actors in ‘The Long Walk,’ directed by Francis Lawrence. Hoffman plays Ray Garraty, a revenge-driven competitor, while Jonsson portrays Peter McVries, a young man hoping to change the world. The two characters form a bond during the grueling survival contest at the center of the King story. The film has received strong critical reception, and Jonsson and Hoffman have spoken about the close friendship they developed during production.
