After seeing Madonna go through never-ending work see her biopic get the green light (with Julia Garner playing the Queen of Pop), legendary rock icon Debbie Harry is now considering bringing her own story to the big screen.

The Blondie frontwoman recently shared that she’d love to see Florence Pugh play her in a movie about her life and career. She shared her thought with The Sunday Times: “If it were somebody like Florence Pugh, I would be in heaven. I just think she’s a great actor and she could do anything.”

Interestingly, Pugh has also expressed her own desire to portray the punk icon. When asked in 2020 which famous figure she’d most like to play, Pugh told the Santa Barbara International Film Festival, “Blondie, just because she’s so cool.”

While Pugh is best known for her film work from ‘Midsommar’ (2019) and ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ (2022) to ‘We Live in Time’ (2024) and her role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, she’s also a talented musician. As a teen, she posted covers on YouTube under the name Flossie Rose, and she later collaborated with her brother Toby Sebastian on his 2021 song “Midnight.” Pugh even wrote and performed two tracks, “The Best Part” and “I Hate Myself,” for her 2023 film ‘A Good Person.’

Harry’s musings on a potential biopic come a few years after she released her 2019 memoir ‘Face It,’ which chronicled her journey from the gritty downtown New York scene of the 1970s to international fame, along with her struggles with heroin addiction, bankruptcy, and Blondie’s breakup.

This isn’t the first time a Blondie biopic has been considered. Back in 2007, Kirsten Dunst revealed that she had met with Harry about a potential film project, but the idea never materialized.
