‘Gen V’ Canceled After Two Seasons as ‘The Boys’ Universe Continues

Part of Prime Video’s ‘The Boys’ franchise, spinoff ‘Gen V’ will not return for a third season.

The decision comes six months after Season 2 of the Godolkin University-set drama ended and was expected, especially after cast member Asa Germann booked a series-regular role on Paramount+’s ‘Frisco King.’

While ‘Gen V’ is finished and ‘The Boys’ is set to end its five-season run on May 20, the franchise will continue with ‘Vought Rising,’ planned for 2027. ‘The Boys: Mexico’ also remains in active development.

Because the franchise uses an interconnected “Vought Cinematic Universe” approach, ‘Gen V’ characters are appearing in the fifth and final season of ‘The Boys.’ The Season 2 finale set this up when Annie January, played by Erin Moriarty, recruited supes to join the resistance against Homelander’s dictatorship.

“While we wish we could keep the party going another season at Godolkin, we’re committed to continuing the ‘Gen V’ characters’ stories in ‘The Boys’ Season 5 and other VCU projects on the horizon,” executive producers Eric Kripke and Evan Goldberg said. “You’ll see them again.”

‘Gen V’ launched strongly and was renewed for Season 2 during its first-season run. The show later faced tragedy when star Chance Perdomo died in a motorcycle accident in March 2024, delaying production on Season 2.

Season 2 starred Jaz Sinclair, Lizze Broadway, Maddie Phillips, London Thor, Derek Luh, Asa Germann, Sean Patrick Thomas, and Hamish Linklater. Michele Fazekas served as showrunner and executive producer.
