Bradley Cooper has officially secured his next directing project, stepping in to helm an upcoming ‘Ocean’s’ prequel. He will also star in the film alongside Margot Robbie.

The project had been widely rumored, and the news was confirmed during CinemaCon on Tuesday, where Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy, co-heads of Warner Bros., made the announcement. While the film remains untitled, it is scheduled for release on June 25, 2027. Cooper, whose most recent directing effort is Is ‘This Thing On?,’ will also produce the movie alongside Robbie through her LuckyChap production company.

Robbie appeared virtually during the presentation, teasing the story: “Before Danny Ocean ever stepped foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows: his parents. You’ll see them in all their prime in our new movie, pulling off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.”

Warner Bros. also unveiled a slate of upcoming release dates, including ‘The Revenge of La Llorona’ (April 9, 2027), ‘Evil Dead Wrath’ (April 7, 2028), ‘Final Destination 7’ (May 12, 2028), Zach Cregger’s ‘The Flood’ (Aug. 11, 2028), ‘Gladys’—a prequel to Weapons—(Sept. 8, 2028), and an untitled film from Baz Luhrmann set for Nov. 22, 2028.

Additionally, the studio confirmed that a prequel film to ‘Game of Thrones’ is moving forward: ‘Aegon’s Conquest.’

Regarding the ‘Ocean’s’ prequel, Lee Isaac Chung had initially been attached to direct but exited the project last month due to creative differences. In a joint statement, Warner Bros. and LuckyChap praised Chung’s contributions, calling him “a singular filmmaking talent” and expressing interest in collaborating with him again in the future.

The ‘Ocean’s’ franchise began in 2001 with Steven Soderbergh’s ‘Ocean’s Eleven,’ itself a remake of the 1960 film starring Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack. The modern trilogy featured stars such as George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, and Matt Damon, concluding with 2007’s ‘Ocean’s Thirteen.’

In 2018, the franchise expanded with ‘Ocean’s Eight,’ directed by Gary Ross and starring Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, and Anne Hathaway.
