It’s now confirmed: Taylor Sheridan’s CIA thriller ‘Lioness’ will return for a third season.
The renewal was announced nearly a year after season two wrapped in December, with Paramount confirming the news on Wednesday. Reports of a third season first surfaced back in August, but scheduling conflicts among the show’s high-profile cast delayed the official greenlight.
While Lioness took longer to secure its renewal, Sheridan’s other projects have been moving quickly. ‘Landman’ will be back with season two on Nov. 16, less than a year since its last outing, and ‘Tulsa King’ returned Sept. 15 for its third season—which has already been picked up for a fourth.
Details about ‘Lioness’ season three remain under wraps, but stars Zoe Saldaña and Nicole Kidman are set to return, both on-screen and as executive producers.
Season two followed the CIA’s fight against terrorism as Joe (Saldaña), Kaitlyn (Kidman), and Byron (Michael Kelly) recruited a new Lioness operative to take on a hidden threat. The season earned Kidman a Critics Choice Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2024.
The ensemble also featured Morgan Freeman, Michael Kelly, Laysla De Oliveira, Genesis Rodriguez, Dave Annable, Jill Wagner, LaMonica Garrett, James Jordan, Austin Hébert, Jonah Wharton, Thad Luckinbill, and Hannah Love Lanier.
Produced by Paramount Television Studios and 101 Studios, the first two seasons of Lioness are now streaming on Paramount+.
