Thomasin McKenzie and Ansel Elgort are set to star in ‘Dinner With Audrey,’ an upcoming feature from Wayfarer Studios, Hyde Park Entertainment, and Mad Chance Productions.
The film, directed by Abe Sylvia, explores the true story of the enduring 40-year friendship between actress Audrey Hepburn (McKenzie) and fashion designer Count Hubert de Givenchy (Elgort). Michael Shannon is reportedly in talks to join the project.
Set over the course of a night in Paris, ‘Dinner With Audrey’ traces the beginning of one of fashion and film’s most iconic collaborations. Hepburn and de Givenchy’s first meeting led to a creative partnership that defined both their careers, with the designer crafting Hepburn’s signature looks for films such as ‘Breakfast at Tiffany’s,’ ‘Funny Face,’ ‘Sabrina,’ ‘How to Steal a Million,’ and ‘Charade.’ Hepburn even wore a Givenchy gown when she accepted her 1954 Best Actress Oscar for ‘Roman Holiday.’
The film will be produced by Ashok Amritraj and Priya Amritraj of Hyde Park Entertainment, Andrew Lazar of Mad Chance Productions, and Andrew Calof of Wayfarer Studios. Holden will serve as executive producer, with Wayfarer also co-financing. Carl Clifton of Hyde Park Entertainment is set to introduce the film to distributors at this year’s American Film Market.
Sylvia, the Emmy-winning creator of Apple TV+’s ‘Palm Royale’ starring Kristen Wiig, brings a strong pedigree to the project. His writing credits include Searchlight’s ‘The Eyes of Tammy Faye,’ which earned Jessica Chastain an Oscar, and Showtime’s ‘George & Tammy,’ starring Chastain and Shannon.
McKenzie continues to solidify her standing as one of Hollywood’s most versatile young talents. She will next appear in Searchlight’s ‘The Testament of Ann Lee’ opposite Amanda Seyfried, Paul Greengrass’ ‘The Uprising’ alongside Andrew Garfield, and Bleecker Street’s British period satire ‘Fackham Hall.’ The ‘Jojo Rabbit’ and ‘Last Night in Soho’ star recently wrapped production on the Gothic horror ‘Victorian Psycho’ with Maika Monroe.
Elgort, known for his roles in ‘West Side Story,’ ‘Baby Driver,’ and HBO Max’s ‘Tokyo Vice,’ will next take the stage in Pete Townshend’s ‘Quadrophenia’ at New York City Center.
