Daisy Ridley will headline ‘Killa Bee,’ a biographical drama based on the remarkable true story of Bryony Tyrell, an ICU nurse who became one of Britain’s most formidable MMA fighters.

The film follows Tyrell—a Southampton-based mother of two with a master’s degree in nursing and a background in molecular biology—who spent her days navigating the intense world of the NHS and her nights transforming into a rising star in British cage fighting. Tyrell began kickboxing while at university, earning her black belt before expanding into mixed martial arts. She started competing as an amateur, later turning professional and winning multiple championship belts.

Ridley shared her excitement about the project, saying: “Bryony’s story is one of extraordinary courage and resilience. I was deeply moved by her emotional and empowering journey. I can’t wait to bring her spirit to the screen.”

Capture will handle world sales for ‘Killa Bee,’ launching the project ahead of next week’s American Film Market. Production is slated to begin in Q2 2026.

The screenplay, written by Ruth Sewell, will be directed by Kenton Oxley. The film is being produced by Knockout Productions in association with Picture Perfect and Moviehouse Entertainment. Producers include Lucinda Thakrar, Mark Vennis, and executive producer Michael Foster.

Ridley, best known for her role as Rey in the ‘Star Wars’ sequel trilogy, recently starred in the action film ‘The Cleaner’ and has wrapped post-production on the romantic comedy ‘The Last Resort.’
