Apple TV+ has officially renewed ‘The Studio,’ the Hollywood insider comedy co-created by and starring Seth Rogen, for a second season. The renewal comes ahead of the show’s first season finale, which is set to air on May 21.

Rogen, along with his co-creator Evan Goldberg, humorously remarked that they’re eager to take “taking the lived experience of making season one and immediately putting it into season two, then repeating that loop for ten more seasons.”

Premiering on March 26, ‘The Studio’ follows the journey of Matt Remick, played by Rogen, the newly appointed head of Continental Studios, as he navigates his own insecurities and the complexities of the film industry.

The ensemble cast features Catherine O’Hara as Patty Leigh, a former Continental executive turned producer, Ike Barinholtz as Sal Saperstein, Remick’s friend and fellow exec who rises to stardom at the Golden Globes, Chase Sui Wonders as junior exec Queen Hackett, and Kathryn Hahn as Maya Mason, the studio’s savvy marketing chief.

Guest stars this season include David Krumholtz, Dewayne Perkins, Keyla Monterroso Mejia, and Rebecca Hall. A-list cameos abound, with Martin Scorsese, Charlize Theron, Sarah Polley, Greta Lee, Anthony Mackie, Dave Franco, Ron Howard, Olivia Wilde, Zac Efron, and Ice Cube all appearing as themselves.

Season one chronicles Remick’s attempt to produce a Kool-Aid Man movie, alongside various other film projects: a romantic drama helmed by Polley, a neo-noir from Wilde, a horror flick titled ‘Wink’ in the vein of ‘Smile,’ a new satire directed by Spike Jonze, and a movie from Ron Howard. Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos also makes a cameo appearance.

Created by Rogen, Goldberg, Frida Perez, Peter Huyck, and Alex Gregory, ‘The Studio’ is executive produced by James Weaver, Alex McAtee, and Josh Fagen of Point Grey Pictures. The show is produced by Lionsgate Television, which maintains a first-look TV deal with Point Grey.

“Seth, Evan, the entire creative team and cast of The Studio have knocked it out of the park with this brilliant show, and it has been incredible to watch the conversation grow with each new episode,” said head of Apple TV+ programming Matt Cherniss. “We can’t wait to see where Matt Remick takes Continental Studios in season two, and hope for his sake that the Kool-Aid movie crushes at the box office.”
