Netflix has ordered a Las Vegas–based drama series from a trio of seasoned storytellers familiar with the city’s glitz and power structures: ‘Casino’ director 'Martin Scorsese, ‘Ocean’s Thirteen’ writers, and ‘Billions’ co-creators Brian Koppelman and David Levien.

The streamer has issued an eight-episode order for the drama, which will focus on the president of a prominent Las Vegas hotel-casino as he maneuvers to protect and expand his influence in the city. Koppelman and Levien are writing the still-untitled series and will serve as showrunners.

Scorsese will executive produce through his Sikelia Productions, joined by Julie Yorn and Rick Yorn of Expanded Media, Paul Schiff and Beth Schacter. Kerry Orent will serve as co–executive producer.

The project marks Koppelman and Levien’s first series since ‘Billions’ concluded its seven-season run on Showtime in 2023. Former Showtime and MTV Entertainment president Chris McCarthy had previously outlined plans for multiple Billions spinoffs, but those initiatives were shelved following the Paramount–Skydance merger and McCarthy’s subsequent departure.

Koppelman and Levien’s television credits also include Showtime’s ‘Super Pumped: The Battle for Uber’ and ESPN’s poker series ‘Tilt.’ Their film work includes scripts for ‘Rounders’ and Steven Soderbergh’s ‘The Girlfriend Experience.’ Scorsese’s television résumé features directing and executive producing the pilots for HBO’s ‘Boardwalk Empire’ and ‘Vinyl,’ as well as directing, producing and appearing in Netflix’s docuseries ‘Pretend It’s a City.’ He is also an executive producer on Apple TV+’s forthcoming ‘Cape Fear’ adaptation.
