‘Star Trek’ co-stars Simon Pegg (‘Mission: Impossible’ franchise) and Sofia Boutella (‘The Mummy,’ ‘Rebel Moon’) join Charlotte Gainsbourg (‘Melancholia’) and Quentin Tarantino in the upcoming feature ‘Only What We Carry,’ which marks Tarantino’s largest on-screen role since Robert Rodriguez’s 1996 cult favorite ‘From Dusk Till Dawn.’

The film, which recently completed production in Deauville, France, comes from Welsh writer-director Jamie Adams, best known for ‘She Is Love’ and ‘Wild Honey Pie!.’ Rounding out the cast are French actor Liam Hellmann (‘Ibiza’) and American-songwriter singer Lizzy McAlpine, making her feature film debut.

Based in Normandy, ‘Only What We Carry’ is described as “a meditation on love, loss, and the quiet courage it takes to move forward.” The film is produced by Charles Benoin, Liam Hellmann, and Jouri Smit.

Pegg portrays Julian Johns, “a once-formidable instructor whose former student, Charlotte Levant (Boutella), returns home to face the ghosts of her past.”

Also featured are John Percy (Tarantino), Julian’s old friend whose sudden arrival brings long-buried secrets to the surface; Josephine Chabrol (Gainsbourg), Charlotte’s protective sister; Vincent (Hellmann), a conflicted artist torn between love and loyalty; and Jacqueline (McAlpine), a young dancer whose presence forces everyone to confront what they’ve left behind.

Director Jamie Adams, known for his improvisational filmmaking approach, shared:

“It’s always been a dream of mine to shoot an Eric Rohmer styled picture in Normandy, a dream that included collaborating with an exceptional international ensemble cast and crew. It turns out that by embracing the freedoms of independent cinema, that dream has come true. I’m forever grateful to the cast and crew of Only What We Carry for this moment.”

While Tarantino is best known for his work behind the camera, he has made numerous cameo appearances in his own films, including ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood’ (2019), ‘Pulp Fiction,’ and ‘Django Unchained.’
