Nintendo and Sony have officially introduced the stars of their upcoming live-action adaptation of ‘The Legend of Zelda.’ Bo Bragason will portray Princess Zelda, and Benjamin Evan Ainsworth will take on the role of Link.

The announcement was made on Wednesday via a social media post from Shigeru Miyamoto, where he also shared what appeared to be first-look images of the actors in costume.

Bo Bragason, a British actress, is recognized for her performances in the BBC One drama ‘Three Girls,’ the Disney+ series ‘Renegade Nell,’ and thriller ‘The Jetty.’ She also starred in the vampire comedy ‘The Radleys,’ directed by Euros Lyn. Ainsworth, also from England, voiced the title character in Robert Zemeckis’ live-action ‘Pinocchio’ and portrayed Miles in Netflix’s ‘The Haunting of Bly Manor.’ His recent work includes the Canadian comedy ‘Son of a Critch’ and an appearance in ‘The Sandman’ on Netflix.

The film is slated for theatrical release on May 7, 2027, following a slight delay from its original March 2027 premiere. Miyamoto previously stated the move was due to production reasons.

Directed by Wes Ball, known for ‘The Maze Runner’ and ‘Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes,’ the project is being produced by Miyamoto alongside Avi Arad.

Following the blockbuster success of ‘The Super Mario Bros. Movie’ from Universal Pictures and Illumination, anticipation is high to see if ‘The Legend of Zelda’ can replicate that success for Sony.
