Daisy Ridley (‘Star Wars’) is set to headline the action-thriller ‘The Good Samaritan,’ directed by Pierre Morel, known for ‘Taken’ and ‘Peppermint.’
The project is built around an original script by ‘Rambo: First Blood’ writer Matthew Ian Cirulnick.
The story follows Dr. Rosalind Carver (Ridley), a successful entrepreneur who, along with her husband Matt, pulls a wounded man from the waters off the coast of Indonesia. What begins as a good deed quickly spirals into danger: within hours, their yacht disappears, Matt is kidnapped, and their idyllic setting becomes a deadly trap. Pursued by pirates and detained by corrupt officials, Rosalind finds her only potential ally in Sean Fuller, a private military contractor with murky intentions and an even murkier past. Together, they’re forced to navigate a labyrinth of betrayal and violence in a region where trust is a luxury. Production is expected to begin in spring 2026 in Brisbane, Australia on the Gold Coast.
Highland Film Group kicked off international sales at the American Film Market last week, while CAA Media Finance and UTA Independent Film Group are jointly handling domestic rights.
The film is produced by Mark Canton (‘Den of Thieves’) and Dorothy Canton (‘Arthur The King’) of Canton Entertainment, Oakhurst Pictures (‘Canary Black’), Renee Tab (‘Sound of Freedom’) of Sentient Entertainment, and David Hopwood (‘Den of Thieves’).
Executive producers include Pierre Morel, Matthew Ian Cirulnick, Ryan Winterstern, and Highland Film Group’s Delphine Perrier and Arianne Fraser. Karley Ferlic of Canton Entertainment will serve as co-producer.
Ridley—best known for her role as Rey in the ‘Star Wars’ saga—recently appeared in the London-set action thriller ‘Cleaner’ opposite Clive Owen, directed by Martin Campbell, as well as Zak Hilditch’s survival thriller ‘We Bury The Dead,’ which premiered at SXSW 2025.
