James Gunn may have wrapped up the press tour for ‘Superman,’ but there’s no downtime for the busy DC Studios co-head. With multiple projects on the horizon, Gunn is already shifting focus.

Responding to fans on social media, Gunn revealed his next moves: promoting Season 2 of HBO’s ‘Peacemaker’ and diving into the writing process for another film featuring the Man of Steel.

Peacemaker press!! And sequel writing!!!” Gunn shared on Threads when asked if he would be taking a break after ‘Superman’’s release.

His mention of a “sequel” sparked confusion among fans, as Gunn had previously indicated the next Superman-related film wouldn’t be a traditional follow-up. Clarifying the statement, he said, “This is the same movie. Superman has a major role. It’s not Superman 2.”

The conversation dates back to July 13, when a fan asked about a release date for ‘Superman 2,’ Gunn simply responded, “Define Superman 2.”

In a separate interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gunn elaborated on the project, saying, “What I’m working on is in some way… I mean, yes, yes, yes, yes. But is it a straight-up Superman sequel? I would not say necessarily.”

‘Superman’ is set to cross the $300 million milestone at the domestic box office—making it the first DC film to do so since Matt Reeves’ ‘The Batman’ in 2022. The film has already outperformed previous DC entries, including Zack Snyder’s ‘Man of Steel’ ($291 million domestic).
