James Gray is once again bringing together a high-profile ensemble for his upcoming film ‘Paper Tiger,’ with Scarlett Johansson and Miles Teller joining Adam Driver in leading roles.

Gray will both write and direct the film, which is slated to begin production next month in New Jersey. Johansson and Teller step in for Anne Hathaway and Jeremy Strong, who exited the project due to scheduling conflicts.

The film is being produced by Rodrigo Teixeira through his RT Features label, with longtime partner Anthony Katagas producing under AK Productions. Additional producers include Raffaella Leone, Gary Farkas, Marco Perego, Carlo Salem, and Andrea Bucko. Executive producers on the project are Lee Broda, Jeff Rice, Riccardo Maddalosso, and Emille Salveson.

‘Paper Tiger’ is described as a gritty, intense drama centered on two brothers chasing the American Dream. Their journey takes a dark turn when they become caught up in a seemingly promising scheme that quickly unravels into a web of violence and corruption. As they descend into a dangerous underworld dominated by the Russian "Mafiya," their familial bond begins to strain, and the threat of betrayal looms large.

Sacker Entertainment Law is overseeing business affairs, production legal, and finance legal services for the film.

Johansson, a two-time Academy Award nominee, is widely recognized for her work in ‘Marriage Story,’ ‘Jojo Rabbit,’ ‘Her,’ ‘Lost in Translation,’ and major blockbuster films like ‘The Avengers.’ She will next appear in Wes Anderson’s ‘The Phoenician Scheme,’ which is set to compete at Cannes, and is preparing for her directorial debut with ‘Eleanor the Great,’ premiering in the festival’s Un Certain Regard section.

Teller’s film credits include ‘Top Gun: Maverick,’ ‘Whiplash’ and ‘The Spectacular Now,’ and recently starred in Apple TV+’s ‘The Gorge’ alongside Anya Taylor-Joy. The actor recently completed filming on Lionsgate’s Michael Jackson biopic ‘Michael’ and A24’s ‘Eternity.’
