Tom Hardy has reportedly been dropped from the Paramount+ crime drama ‘Mobland.’
The series, produced by Guy Ritchie and written by Jez Butterworth and ‘Top Boy’ writer Ronan Bennett, features a major cast that includes Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren. It quickly became one of Paramount+’s biggest hits, ranking as the platform’s second most-watched programme behind Taylor Sheridan’s ‘Landman.’
Hardy has not been invited back for a potential third season after alleged tensions with producers, including Butterworth and David Glasser.
Hardy was often late to set and frequently wanted to give input on scripts. Reports from Variety and Puck also suggested he was unhappy that more attention was being given to his co-stars.
Season two of ‘Mobland’ has already finished filming and is expected to premiere in the coming months. Although Paramount+ has not yet officially announced a third season, the show’s strong performance makes another instalment highly likely.
This is not the first time Hardy has been linked to tension on a film set. He previously had a well-documented feud with Charlize Theron while making ‘Mad Max: Fury Road.’
Hardy and Theron starred together in George Miller’s 2015 post-apocalyptic action film, and both later acknowledged that their working relationship had been difficult. Theron has said the pair clashed during production, while Hardy later reflected that the pressure of the project had been overwhelming.
More details to come.
