Adele is preparing to make her acting debut in Tom Ford’s next feature, ‘Cry to Heaven,’ an adaptation of Anne Rice’s 1982 novel. Ford will direct, produce and write the project, marking his third film following ‘A Single Man’ and ‘Nocturnal Animals.’
Set in 18th-century Italy, the film follows the intersecting lives of a Venetian nobleman and a castrated opera singer.
Adele will join a large ensemble cast that includes Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ciarán Hinds, George MacKay, Mark Strong, Colin Firth, Paul Bettany, Owen Cooper, Daniel Quinn-Toye, Hunter Schafer, Josephine Thiesen, Thandiwe Newton, Theodore Pellerin, Daryl McCormack, Cassian Bilton, Hauk Hannenmann and Lux Pascal.
‘Cry to Heaven’ is currently in pre-production in London and Rome, with principal photography scheduled to begin in January. The film is targeting a fall 2026 release.
Ford, who launched his namesake fashion house after serving as creative director of Gucci and Yves Saint Laurent, earned critical acclaim with his previous films. His 2009 debut, ‘A Single Man,’ received an Academy Award nomination, while 2016’s ‘Nocturnal Animals’ won the Grand Jury Prize in Venice and earned Michael Shannon an Oscar nomination. The new film reunites Ford with Taylor-Johnson, who appeared in ‘Nocturnal Animals,’ and Firth, the star of ‘A Single Man.’
Adele, known for chart-topping hits such as ‘Hello,’ ‘Rolling in the Deep’ and her Oscar-winning Bond theme ‘Skyfall,’ recently announced she plans to take a temporary break from music following the conclusion of her Las Vegas residency.
