Following the recent news that Scarlett Johansson has joined the cast of ‘The Batman Part II,’ director Matt Reeves appears to be assembling another major addition to the sequel.

Sebastian Stan is currently in negotiations to join the highly anticipated DC Studios film in an undisclosed role. Should the deal move forward, Stan would star alongside Robert Pattinson, who is confirmed to return as Gotham’s Dark Knight in the sequel, once again written and directed by Reeves.

Production on the sequel is expected to begin in the spring, with a theatrical release date set for October 1, 2027. The film is being produced by DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran, alongside longtime collaborator Dylan Clark.

Reeves’ 2022 film ‘The Batman’ marked Warner Bros.’ first major theatrical hit following the pandemic-era shift to simultaneous HBO Max releases. Starring Pattinson and Zoë Kravitz, the film earned $369.3 million domestically and reached $772 million at the global box office.

Stan is well known in the comic-book genre, having portrayed Bucky Barnes, a.k.a. the Winter Soldier, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe for more than a decade. He most recently reprised the role in Marvel Studios’ ‘Thunderbolts*.’ Outside of franchise fare, Stan recently received widespread acclaim for his performance as Donald Trump in ‘The Apprentice,’ a role that earned him a Best Actor nomination at the Academy Awards.
